4:5 or 3:4?
Instagram's profile grid now shows posts as vertical 3:4 tiles. A 4:5 post still looks great in the feed, but it is slightly cropped at the top and bottom in your grid. If your grid matters (brands, portfolios, real estate), export a 1080 × 1440 version. If reach in the feed matters most, 1080 × 1350 is the standard.
Why 1080 px wide
Instagram displays images at 1080 px wide. Uploading a 4000 px photo doesn't make it sharper: Instagram shrinks it with its own settings. Resizing it yourself to 1080 px, in sRGB colour, as a high-quality JPEG, gives you control over the final look.
Carousels
The first slide sets the shape of the whole carousel. Export every slide at the same size, usually 1080 × 1350, so nothing gets cropped.
Stories and Reels safe zones
Keep text, logos and faces away from about the top 250 px and bottom 340 px of the 1080 × 1920 frame, where the profile name, buttons and captions appear.
